We kindly remind you that according to the legislation regarding the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing of 2018 (as amended from time to time), as well as the adoption of the 4th European Directive, a UBO register for legal entities and other form of legal entities must be established.
The Council of Ministers under this legislation (N13(I)/2018) decided on 16/12/2020 how to implement the UBO register for legal entities and other form of legal entities.
Pursuant to the decision of the Council of Ministers, the following were decided, inter alia:
Appointment of the Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver, as the competent authority for the creation, operation, and maintenance of the UBO register; and
Authorise the Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver to collect information regarding the ultimate beneficial owners of the legal entities and any other form of legal entities.
Based on the above, the Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver announces that the collection of information for the ultimate beneficial owners of the legal entities is set for Tuesday, 16/03/2021.
The 1st Directive of Regulations of the Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver for the operation and maintenance of the UBO Register will be issued the following days. Therefore, we will inform you accordingly with all the relevant details as soon as this Directive of Regulations is available.
